Colonel Robert M. Marchi initiated development of the Memorial Day program “Meet the Troops” in order to honor those who have self-lessly served our nation. The intent behind the program is to teach students that Memorial Day is not about sales at the mall or a day off, but rather to remember and honor the memory of each life lost in defense of freedom and encourage students to thank members of the armed service when they see them in uniform.

Colonel Robert M. Marchi is the Brigade Commander of the 152nd Theater Information Operations Group (TIOG), headquartered at Camp Parks, CA. This unit is one of only four like units in the nation with the mission to conduct information and influence activities anywhere in the world.

Colonel Marchi has over 28 years of service in the U.S. Army to include Active, National Guard and Reserve assignments. Previous assignments included Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan (3rd Special Forces Group); Battalion Commander, Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer, Region IX, U.S. Army Reserve; 501st Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), New York Army National Guard; Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, 105th Infantry (Light), 27th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard; Company Commander, B Company, 1st Battalion, 105th Infantry (Light), 27th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard; Company Commander, B Company, 1st Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces.

Additionally, Colonel Marchi has served in key staff assignments at the Special Forces Company level, as well as at the infantry battalion, brigade and division.
